Interviews with Anti-Flag, Islands and Steve Dawson

First up we talk to Chris 2 who plays bass with American punk rock band Anti-Flag. The band brings its raw and politically charged songs to Ritual on Friday night (May 13.) We talk to Chris about politics in songs and the current state of politics in the USA - a bonehead named Trump does get mentioned. http://www.anti-flag.com/ Islands is back with some new music, as the band has decided to release two albums simultaneously. We talk to Nick Thorburn of Islands about how the band recorded the electronic album Taste and the more organic-rock album Should I Remain Here At Sea? We talk about how songs wound up on each album and about the process of selecting the set list for the upcoming tour. We get some world radio premieres again today as these songs aren't being released til tomorrow!! Such an exclusive. Check out Islands at Ritual on Tuesday, May 17 - the first date on the tour so the first time people will be hearing these songs live!! http://islandsareforever.com/ Steve Dawson is in Ottawa on Wednesday, May 18 at Irene's. The master of Canadian roots music has a great new album out called,Solid States and Loose Ends. We talk about his love of all kinds of roots music and how he doesn't really compartmentalize it into genres at all... it's just music to Steve. We also talk about working with the amazing rhythm section of Gary Craig on drums and John Dymond on bass and how he breaks his songs down for solo concerts when he's on the road on his own. http://www.stevedawson.ca/ Get out and see some live music this week!!
