Interviews with Hawksley Workman, Evening Hymns and Esmerine

What a great show for conversations about the power and importance of music!!! Hawksley Workman has a new album entitled Old Cheetah. We talk to him about a song like "We're Not Broken Yet" which was written in defiance of the Harper Government and how that song has changed a bit in the post-Harper period. (It feels so good to write... "post-Harper"!!) We also talk about the power of music and Hawksley's rich artistic relationship with Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat and Mounties.) See Hawksley perform at the Bronson Centre on Friday, November 13th. Next up Jonas Bonnetta of Evening Hymns talks about his new album "Quiet Energies." We talk about how the spirit of his Father is still present on this album and the importance of making music that connects with people and transports them. Evening Hymns plays at the Black Sheep Inn up in Wakefield tonight (Nov. 12.) Finally we connect with Becky Foon who plays cello with Montreal's instrumental group Esmerine. Becky also talks about transporting audiences with the music she makes and how she is transported herself during performances with this group. We also talk about recording the new album in France and how the album's music is to speak for the environment and the voices, species and cultures that have been lost over the years. Esmerine is one of the best live groups on the planet so don't miss them at the Black Sheep Inn on Sunday at 4 p.m. for the weekend matinee (Nov. 15th.) Get out and see some live music this week.
