On today's show, leading into the Canada Day long weekend, I wanted to feature some Canadian music which showcases what I believe are Canada's greatest strengths, Canada's diversity and commitment to pluralism and multiculturalism. Toronto's Kuné is a perfect musical representation of these ideals. Kuné is an 11-piece group with 10 new Canadians with roots in Brazil, Greece, China, Burkina Faso, Cuba, Peru, Mexico, Iran, Turkey, Iraq and one Métis Canadian from Manitoba. Their new album "Universal Echoes" is a 12-movement suite which moves through and weaves together 11 different musical traditions seamlessly.
This is Canada at its very best!

Sneaking a peek. I look forward to Kuné -- not familiar, and sure dig the concept. I share the pride in Canada's diversity. (Including PRIDE of course.) But also deeply regret our history of doing bad to so many of our fellow beings, and our collective lack of care to our little spec of a rock in the vastness of space. Alas, I am unlikely to catch much "live" today, so OnDemand later.
