Brand new from Rajasthan's Barmer Boys: Live in Berlin; music from Macedonia, Turkey, Western Sahara, Mali, Hungary and more

The Barmer Boys are a trio of musicians from Rajasthan with Manga singing and harmonium, Rais Khan on morchang, bhapang, khartaal, beatboxing, and Magada Khan on dholak. After six months of quarantine, the Barmer Boys have just embarked on a tour of Denmark, sadly the pandemic is still raging, so only a small number of people are getting a chance to see them live in socially distanced venues. Thankfully, for the rest of us who are missing them and all live music, Amarrass Records just released "Live in Berlin", recorded in Berlin at the Wassermusik festival hosted by the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in 2017. We will hear most of the concert.

We continue with a number of powerful female vocalists before turning to Hubay's delicious Hungarian urban-gypsy violin and piano before ending with one of my favourite songs.

at 2:40pm, lots of beatboxing going on from Rais Khan, his own unique addition to Rajasthani folk music. Probably not a stretch for him as he plays the morchang which probably trains the mouth well for beatboxing.

Na Hawa Doumbia starts off the song with a really long held note, I always love that!
