Shakti live in 1997 and 1999. Then traditional folk, classical, neo-classical and experimental musics from Sweden, from mid-1950s to 1980.

The background music used during the spoken segments is "My Foolish Heart" by John McLaughlin from his 1978 LP "Johnny McLaughlin, Electric Guitarist", written by Victor Young and Ned Washington and originally a vocal piece sung by Martha Mears in the 1949 film of the same name...

The following pieces are taken from the Caprice Records series of compilations "Musik in Schweden" (Music in Sweden) of which there are at least nine, released in between 1975 and 1982. Each disc has a theme, as per the title noted in the playlist. Where available, I have cited original album sources. Each LP is very nicely packaged and presented (original Swedish art on the covers), with inserts providing extensive notes in English, Swedish, German and French. The sequence of the tracks listed below is essentially chronological, based on the date of the individual recordings (where available).

SHAKTI !!! Just WOW! Just joined in a couple minutes ago, knew instantly. Do not know either piece you have listed though, nor that a box set even existed. Clearly, my bad. Happy homework. Acquire...........

OK, this has now degenerated to "Just Plain Weird" and "What the *%#@ Was That". Two of my fave genres. ;^) Whatever is on right now (15:40) reminds me of early Pink Floyd. Back before Syd lost his marbles.
