2018 World Cup! Being an eternal dreamer, I start every World Cup cheering for the African teams, this time is no different! We will hear music from Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria, and Senegal.
We will also hear some of my picks from the upcoming Ottawa Jazz Festival beginning next Thursday.

I was in Morocco during the 2002 World Cup. Senegal were in their first World Cup and were playing the defending champions France in the opening game. Against all expectations they beat France, I remember Moroccans exploding with joy! Their team did not qualify, but they were thrilled a fellow African team had beaten the World Champions! Senegal continued their tremendous running making it to the quarter finals. Hoping for a similar story with an African team this time. |
