Remembering Ron Hynes, North & South Indian classical with Gaurav Mazumdar and Jayanthi Kumaresh
Today we remember Newfoundland's greatest songwriter, Ron Hynes, who passed away this week. Newfoundland is perhaps Canada's most beautiful province, but Ron wrote songs about how hard life in Newfoundland could be, despite his great love for his home.
We also hear a north-south Indian classical collaboration with Hindusthani sitarist Gaurav Mazumdar and Carnatic veena master Jayanthi Kumaresh in a full performance of Rag Yaman/Kalyani with tabla player Devasish Mukherjee and mridangam player Satish Kumar accompanying.
