Contemporary Persian music for violin and computer; Mahdieh Mohammad-Khani; Ambi Subramaniam

Starting today with a contemporary Persian piece entitled "Migration" for violin and computer by Shahrokh Yadegari and performed by violinist Keyavash Nourai and Shahrokh Yadegari. This work is a recording of a live improvisation in Avaz Esfahan, there are very few synthesized sounds from the computer, most of the music is improvisations by the violin which are then transformed by Yadegari on computer in real time and played back to the violinist who improvises new material on this new sound, thus creating this wonderful feedback loop where one violin ends up sounding like many. It is a haunting, mournful, and unique work. We also hear Mahdieh Mohammad-Khani who will be performing in Ottawa on Saturday September 19th with the incredible Dastan ensemble.
