Anouar Brahem, the Tunisian Oud master and composer with his brand new album "Souvenance" (Remembrance). His first album in 6 years. Anouar Brahem had sat down to start work on his next album after his 2009 "The Astounding Eyes of Rita" when the Tunisian revolution sparked off in late December 2010. The events which swept Tunisia and the Arab world shocked him and he found his emotional world "monopolized by the political".
It took several more years before Brahem was ready to compose music. This new album is his reaction to these dramatic and continuing events. Fear, hope, despair, joy. This album is very subtle and delicate musically, but containing deep wells of emotion.
Brahem composed this work for his Oud and reuniting with some of his regular collaborators, Francois Couturier on piano, Klaus Gesing on bass clarinet, Bjorn Meyer on bass, and for the first time, he added a string orchestra which adds dramatic depth. The result is mesmerizing, even shocking.

| The last piece (movement?) from the album is a short piece for the string orchestra only. It was orchestrated by Estonian composer Tonu Korvits, so his beautiful piece for string orchestra and choir makes a great transition. |
