| Berlioz's grand and spectacular opera Les Troyens will be performed live by the Met Opera this Saturday afternoon and broadcast live through HD at cinemas throughout the world. Often considered Berlioz's Magnum Opus, he wrote his own libretto based on Virgil's Aeneid, and he focuses partly on the tragedy and frustration of Cassandra who tried to warn the Trojans about the Greek's deceit but mostly on the love affair between the Trojan hero Aeneas, the mythical progenitor of the Romans, and his tragic love affair with the Carthaginian queen Dido.
