Last night, I went to the Mayfair Theatre to see the 40th anniversary re-release of *Stop Making Sense*. WELL. I'd already seen it on t.v., and it was great, but seeing it on film, even not close up, as I prefer, made two big differences. 1) the sound. A really good mix where nothing except gang voices was dominant, so some really famous tunes sounded great, full and everything, different because of large speakers -- while not necessitating ear plugs! And I wear those all the time at musical events. The other difference -- outside of the show not being interrupted by commercials! -- was clearly showing the insane motions David Byrne put on. Things simply show up in more detail on the big screen. Anyway, great stuff of course, and running a spare 88 minutes.

(Ryan) Oh yeah! And then, Taylor Swift's made a *career* out of same. Bitchin' 'bout the ex. My main problem with rap is the lack of notes in the vocals. Monotonous, literally. So when it's mostly that plus beat, even underlying it with tuneage seems like not enough. Let alone when it's mostly rap & beat. Ah well. (Cue the Hip's *So Hard Done By*)
