40th Anniversary of Maritime Rites by Alvin Curran: selections from Leo Wadado Smith, Steve Lacy and Alvin Curran plus an interview with Curran
Maritime Rites was an interesting combination of natural sounds (mostly fog horns and ships horns) with improvised music that was recorded in 1984 and broadcast on public radio in the US in 1985. On this show we will listen to the contributions of Leo Wadado Smith and Steve Lacy, as well as Alvin Curran. I also interviewed Alvin Curran who provides some insights into the creation of the pieces.
