Away from Ra: John Gilmore with other leaders
Tenor sax player John Gilmore was a leading light in the Sun Ra Arkestra from 1956 to his death in 1995, including leading the band after Sun Ra's death in 1993. In this program, songs from 8 of the 11 recordings he made outside of that setting, playing on other artists' sessions.
The first track is two tenor players, one solo each. Is it Clifford Jordan, then John Gilmore, or vice-versa? |
