Opening another year of Rabble with music from Walt Dickerson, Bobby Hutcherson and Gary Burton. A healthy and happy 2020 to all.
| Unlike its cousins the marimba (wooden) and the xylophone (metal), which are ancient and existed in multiple local forms around the world, the vibraphone (metal) is quite recent - developed in the US in the 1920's. Sometimes called a vibraharp in the early days. Other notable players have included Red Norvo, Lionel Hampton, Milt Jackson, Cal Tjader, and, more recently, Joe Locke and Stefon Harris. |
