Wadada Leo Smith: America's National Parks

Many Jazz fans have selected Wadada Leo Smith recording America’s National Parks on the Cuneiform label as one of the best recordings of 2016. The music is usually played with videos showing pictures of the different parks. The music is not an illustration of these visuals but an exploration of the spiritual and psychological dimensions linking American citizens with iconic nature as common property. These ambitious works combine compositions and improvisations involving Smith’s Golden Quintet, an expanded version of the quartet he has led for the last 16 years
