European Free Jazz stars improvise together
Saxophonist Evan Parker has appeared on over 400 recordings as a leader or sideman. Tonight we will sample the Free Zone Appleby 2006 that teams him up with other European heavyweights, Alexander von Schlippenbach, Aki Takase, Rudi Mahall, Paul Rutherford, Paul Lovens and Philipp Wachsman. None of them claims to be the leader of the group. It is a demonstration of pure improvisation between musicians that have played extensively together before, thus having a full set of anticipations.
