The Stretch Orchestra concert preview
The Canadian Stretch Orchestra defines itself as a renegade trio. They cross musical or more precisely Jazz borders like no one never tried before. A composition can start in a Jazz-Rock style to immediately being propulsed into a classical cello concert that itself quickly takes the shape of an elaborate Coltranian solo. The same happens with good old folk music if not country and western music where the banjo leads into the same forays of not so straight-ahead Jazz. I guess this is where the name of the band came from, stretching all kinds of music and forcing it into Jazz.
The Stretch Orchestra, composed of our own drummer Jesse Stewart, cellist Matt Brubeck (yes, the son of Dave Brubeck) and guitarist and other plucked instruments Kevin Breit, will be performing at GigSpace on March 2nd.
