THE COMPLETE BLUE NOTE 45 SESSIONS OF IKE QUEBEC

In the late 1950’s into the 1960’s Blue Note, like many record labels, released 45rpm singles with an eye toward promoting their artists’ LPs. Tonight Ron & Jim guest host on In A Mellow Tone and sample THE COMPLETE BLUE NOTE 45 SESSIONS OF IKE QUEBEC. Recorded at three sessions over a four year span between 1959 and 1962, the music is soulful, bluesy and masterful. We'll hear the entire first session recorded July 1, 1959, half of the second session recorded September 25, 1960 and half of the third session recorded February 5&13, 1962.

Great show gentleman. Excellent commentary. What I love about CKCU is that shows have maintained their pedigree, Even after the original host has passed. Obviously, I’m think of Mellow…, Swing…, Canadian…, Rabble…, and there may be others. As a very long time listener to CKCU, for over 50 years, this is a wonderful musical threat in my life. Best.

Hi to you two too! Thinking of jazz artists named after provinces - stuck on Alberta Hunter.

Threat or treat? You be the judge - both are admirable qualities in jazz programming!
