Tonight's theme for In a Mellow Tone will be "The Summer of Love”, centring on the romance, heartbreak and passion, that has fuelled many jazz artists to create some of the most timeless pieces ever known. Whether it's the feelings of joy that come with falling in love, the despair of heartbreak, or overall confusion from the complexities of romance, this session will cover all of these feelings and more with some of the best love songs, standards, and classics in jazz that reflect matters of the heart. In addition to this, host Natalie McGrath will showcase background information on the romantic lives of these artists and how it influenced their work and/or creative process.
