Joe Sealy is a Canadian pianist born in Montreal in 1939, based in Toronto, with roots in Halifax (birthplace of his father, and Joe served in the Royal Canadian Navy). His 1996 album "Africville Suite", depicts the tragedy and hope of the oldest Black settlement in Canada (founded in the early 1800s, dismantled in the 1960s), and was awarded the Juno for "Best Contemporary Jazz Album".
