Looking Forward and a Backward Glance...
Two sessions recorded on April 12, 1969 in Paris, France by two of the young avant-garde jazz musicians - the Art Ensemble of Chicago and Archie Shepp. In fact, members of the AEC play on Archie Shepp's album. While exploring the future of jazz that do not hesitate to acknowledge and pay tribute to those who came before them. AEC cover Charlie Parker's DEXTERITY and Archie Shepp pays tribute to Sonny Rollins and covers BODY AND SOUL.
