The Coal Porters began in Los Angeles in 1989 fronted by Sid Griffin. The first two albums continued the “Country Rock” sound of The Long Ryders. When Griffin relocated to London, England around the turn of the century the band turned to bluegrass. Tonight you’ll hear both kinds of the Coal Porters.
