I used to use it quite a lot -- On many word processing systems (such as microsoft word) two dashes are automatically changed to the emdash " — " when you type it, that's probably what she was talking about. Here's the thing, the AI was trained on high quality journalism and writing, people have been using it for a long time and that's where the LLM it learned to use it.. It's also a lot easier to type on a phone, you press and hold on the dash and a menu pops up with the emdash on the list.
