I'm a big fan of Abdullah and am lucky to have lots of his records in my collection. Many outstanding ones including the two you are featuring but "Jorney" would probably have to be my favourite.

Hey Manmohan! Welcome to the party! A fave of mine too! You have great taste, sir!

Hauntingly beautiful stuff.......perfect example of where 'less is more'. And as usual Jim has the uncanny ability to capture in words what the musicians are doing on stage.

What a wonderful piece this is; and a very well suited title , The Perfumed Forest Wet With Rain ! I can almost smell it if I close my eyes.

Also a HUGE Abdullah Ibrahim(Dollar Brand at that time) fan. Do not have 'Montreux ' in my piles. My personal fave would be 'Africa - Tears and Laughter' -- most of the same tunes on that one, different versions. The version of "Ishmael" on Tears is one of my fave pieces of African jazz ever (that is saying a lot!) -- soooooo spiritual.

With Mark's blessing, if I could borrow a word from his lexicon......ambient jazz......with a heavy tincture of spirituality
