Today we profile two ensembles that are prime examples of Black groups that lasted several decades and would go on to define the Black experience to this day. In the first hour Jim presents SOUND OF JOY by Sun Ra and His Arkestra, an album recorded in 1956 but not released until 1968 on the Delmark label. In the second hour Ron counters with PEOPLE IN SORROW by the Art Ensemble Of Chicago, recorded in 1969 in France and released on the Nessa label in the USA.
