This week, in the first hour Ron starts off the show with an outstanding record by the John Carter Octet that came out on the Gramavision label in 1986. CASTLES OF GHANA is the second part of a five part series composed by John Carter called ROOTS AND FOLKLORE: EPISODES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AMERICAN FOLK MUSIC. In the second hour Jim features a 1982 Soul Note recording called SHADOWS AND REFLECTIONS by Baikida Carroll (the trumpet player on CASTLES OF GHANA).
