The origins of Jazz are an amalgamation of cultures and musical influences. Though jazz has been referred to as "America's Classical Music", over the years it has been a hybrid influenced by various countries around the world. And the music is richer for it. Today we spin two very different records that are from and built upon many different genres and styles of music. In the first hour Jim guides listeners through the 1997 ECM album KHMER by Norwegian trumpet player Nils Petter Molvaer. In the second hour Ron conducts a musical tour through the 1974 Amha album ETHIO JAZZ by Ethiopian keyboardist Mulatu Astatke. Expect to hear two hours of hypnotic, groovy, haunting, trance-like music.
