Music For A While
Monday August 25th, 2025 with David Cavlovic
Saint-Saëns' Symphony No. 2 (according to Saint-Saëns)
I met Frans Brüggen at a Tafelmusik after-concert house party. He was very tall and very intense. Harpsichordist Colin Tilney, who has known Brüggen for years, tried to get him to engage in chit-chat. Didn't work. So Colin and I retired to a corner of the kitchen and discussed politics, as was our wont during these events. Maybe that was the problem?
