Vladimir Horowitz told the story of how, during a tour of small towns in the US during the Second World War, he decided at one concert to switch out Beethoven's Appassionata Sonata for the Waldstein. He told the stage manager to announce the change from the printed program. So, the stage manager said "Tonight, Mr. Horowitz will not be playing the Appassionata Sonata as printed in the program. Instead, he will play the Sonata in Waltz Time"....
