Bedtime Stories
Tuesday August 27th, 2024 with Chris Lyne
Name Droppers

This evening's topic began life as a show in which one or more other artists were either mentioned by name or were the song's unnamed subject. Amongst the many songs that could fit the bill, two names in particular kept cropping up. So this evening's show focuses almost entirely on songs referring to those two artists.

I remember when I heard that Elvis had died. I was in my friend’s kitchen and there was a lot of Elvis music playing on the radio. I asked her why they were playing so much Elvis on the radio. “He died today.” My friend said. It was one of those moments in my childhood that really stands out.

I was never a huge fan. I liked him. His Gospel record a big fav& best work only IMO!;-) It was sad the way he was "Owned" by the Colonel....I blame him for death. IMO.

Hi Shelley, Kirsty's song has been played here quite often in the last few years alone, a perennial favourite.

And now for the evening's strangest name drop! Why would James Brown eat a set of bagpipes?

James Brown Is Dead sounds like music heard in an ‘aerobics’ class beck in the early 90s.

Bagpipes have only been played twice on Bedtime Stories, no coincidence there ;-)
