He will probably show up to angrily denounce it at some point. Probably busy eating.

Back in 1979, inspired by acts like Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze that I was introduced to by listening to shows on CKCU like ‘Europa’s Abduction’, I took a 4th year course in ‘Electronic Music Studio Techniques’ and got to play with the Carleton Music Dept.’s wall-sized EMS synthesizer on the top floor of the Loeb building. Despite having no musical knowledge or talent I got an ‘A’ in the course and completed the Arts option that I needed to graduate with my science degree. I hope that synthesizer is still there!

Michael- thanks for tuning in and the story. I'm sure it's still there. Carleton never throws anything out ;-)

I was at that 1986 Tangerine Dream show at Lansdowne Park here in Ottawa and your bootleg sounds better than the concert did. I had also been at the TD show the day before at Place Des Arts in Montreal in which the sound was fabulous. The 1st of the two shows that they played in Montreal on that tour are available on the Live in Montreal 1986 cd (a live broadcast recording from CHOM-FM) and is a must have for TD fans. FYI, I’ve uploaded an Edgar Froese interview that he did for CKCU to Archive.org – alas, poor sound fidelity, but at least saved for posterity.

When I took Computer Music in 2001, we just had MIDI synths and Cubase and Max software, but it's possible they still had some analog synths hiding somewhere.

Been listening along, somewhat broken-wise, as getting the day (COFFEE) going. COOL AS &%#@ "theme"!! Though admit idea that there could be such a thing on S-J did throw me off for a while there. ;^) This will be a GREAT OnDement listen later, queued.
