No good deed... goes unpunished, the current cliché states. Good morning!

Morning Sean and Benoit.. I like no good deed......goes un noticed. At least, I wish it were so.

Nice way to look at it!

Being unnoticed is a real mark of a good deed -- with the exception of when there's another person involved. Switching subjects, this song by Harmonium was HUGE at the time in Québec, also heavily noticed in English Canada.

Oh, typo: Histoire sanS paroles (ex translator, so...)

Oops... covering my tracks!

Oh right: Histoire is singular. I just checked So, indeed, Histoire sans paroles (Just to confuse things, Montreal Symphonic Orch. did a 'classical' retake of this, on film, and it's called the same, but with Histoires with a S.)

I do wonder what people who got into Harmonium with their first album must have thought of l'Heptade :).

Worry not, Sean, I am the guardian angel, and bane, of many CKCU host-typoists!

I just picked up that classical thing, and it's what caused me to want to play this. It was nice enough but you can't beat the original.

Righto. I was just reading up the French language wiki on l'Heptade, and indeed many, MANY things changed for that one, from the firing of guitarist Normandeau (couldn't do the now-complex parts, thought the original two members), to the addition of many people, and the involvement of the OSM. It seems that generally, people appreciate more the not-with-the-OSM works of Harmonium.

Two of the guys they picked up (Robert Stanley and Denis Farmer) were ex-Contraction/Toubabou, which I guess makes sense if they were progging it up.

Sean, just to restate (Harmonium): the word "Histoires" in the title up there should lose that last S, because it's singular on the album. It's the OSM that screwed things up years later (for its own album), for good ol' copyright reasons I'll bet.

Hmm, which version are you looking at? The CD I have here actually has the 's', and Discogs seems to claim the 's' for various editions I checked (although I have noticed in the past with other albums that if a typo gets into Discogs, people will just blindly copy it to every other issue, so that doesn't necessarily mean anything)...

The vinyl here at the station also has the 's' ... we may need to write a letter to Serge Fiori.

Let me look more closely into it.

I've looked some, and the cutest thing is in the Fr. wiki on *Si on avait besoin d'une cinquième saison*, which (IMO correctly) first mentions the cut as I think -- Histoire sans paroles -- but uses, in the track listing, *Histoires...* Then, the Youtube of the original lp also says Histoire, no s. So a) it doesn't matter much, and b) I stick with "no s" for the original cut. Great show, by the way!
