Chance meeting on a Skog av Sommar och Rymd
Mattias Andersson is an elementary school teacher based in Gothenburg, Sweden. Arv & Miljö's cassettes and CDs in the early 2010 explored industrial, noise, musique concrète, and electronics. Our program focuses on four "seasonal" records released between 2018 and 2022 consisting of home-brewed ambient sound collages, field recordings, elements of folk, and drone. These were inspired by rural experiences in Sweden in the 1980s.

| "Jorden Först" (Earth First) is an emotionally charged and bizarrely evocative look at radical environmental advocacy groups, mainly Earth First! and Earth Liberation Front, channeled through the memories of the Swedish Plogbill-movement and their actions throughout the early 90's. Monologue, snippets of interview segments, protest songs and site recordings are mixed up with rather raw kosmische synth music Arv & Miljö has explored. |

| The final album from Arv & Miljö consists of two sidelong pieces based almost entirely on field recordings. The recordings span from 2014 to 2024 and were primarily recorded in Gothenburg, capturing life-affirming moments from an intense decade through snippets from endless summer nights out, great people desperately wanting more from life, hazy underground culture encounters and just random, confusing everyday nonsense that somehow still has its place here.
The album sort of functions as an epilogue to everything that was Arv & Miljö - a restless and cacophonic but somewhat beautiful mess. Thanks for listening. |
