Chance Meeting
Friday January 22nd, 2021 with Heavy Ben
Apple Macintosh and Computing in the 1980s

Chance meeting on a circuit board of innovation and hype Apple introduced Macintosh on January 22, 1984 - promising a different kind of 1984. While an amazing machine at the time, Apple's campaigns against IBM and mainframes, hyper corporate branding, proprietary technology and privacy breaches has their legacy closer to Big Brother than was advertised.

Cool show Ben! ooooh Newcleus! Have you heard Suzanne Ciani's 'Lixivation' ? She has a few crazy Atari and Coca Cola adds that are in a similar 80s computer vibe.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbEDKT3Hkt0

Good line from allmusic about Trans: "the music sounded less like new Kraftwerk than like old Devo"

3:41 PM, January 22nd, 2021
Ben Armstrong (host)
Less goofy than Devo, but definitely not as forward thinking as Kraftwerk. So, fair.

So good! You took me right back to being 8 years old and playing in my neighbors basement with the very first Mac. Billy Van! Thanks man. Great vaporware

Glad to have connected, Shawn! And yes this vaporware is rather nostalgic for a "new" production. Slowed down Diana Ross sample...
