e.V. has the migraine fairy by the throat this week... we lost 2 great Canadians this month* so in honour of their passing there will be (mostly) waaaay too much FOLK METAL of various flavours. There will however be a short detour to goth rock territory in hour 2. Hour 5 will feature Canadian Folk legend Stompin' Tom Connors. Hang onto your hats!
HOUR 1: Falconer hail from Sweden and they are an awesome combination of folk metal and power metal. We will hear all of Among Beggars and Theieves in hour 1.
HOUR 2: a break from the folk with The Jade - fine gothic rock from Finland.
HOUR 3 & into 4: SIG:AR:TYR & Bolero a.k.a Vesperia - blackened folk metal from Canada.

Canada's folk-country musical poet-laureate, Stompin' Tom Connors, probably the only well-known Canadian who ever had the wit to sing about this country. And CKCU's own Chopper McKinnon, the irrepressible host of Canadian Spaces for 33 years and a seminal figure in Canadian folk and singer-songwriter climes as well as one of the organizers of the Ottawa Folk Festival.
