Second week of Tom Russell's The Man from God Know's Where
Last week, we started another amazing musical story, by the great Texas Americana singer songwriter Tom Russell. It’s the story of his ancestry., called The Man from God Knows Where. Tom refers to it in 3 parts, and last week we heard the first 2, so today we hear the 3rd part – the conclusion to this masterpiece.
If you didn’t hear the first part, you will enjoy this part anyway, however you will want to go back and listen to last week’s show. If you can, close your eyes, relax, and imagine this on a theatre stage. That’s how I listen to it, and one day I would love to produce a live Theatre production of this beautiful work.
You will hear the vocals from Tom Russell, Iris DeMent, Dolores Keane, Sondre Bratland, Dave Van Ronk, Kari Bremnes, and Walt Whitman.
In the first 2 parts we heard about Patrick Russell and Mary Clare Malloy, coming from Ireland, and the difficult journey, and challenges of settling. We also heard the stories of his mother’s side of the family – Ambrose Larson and Anna Olsen.
