Stories for the whole family! Great for kids, and you'll love it too. Today, being a holiday, I thought it would be fun to keep everyone entertained. The feature story will get you all dancing!

Welcome to in my good books! I hope you’ve all had a Merry Christmas. Yes, this has been a crazy year we just left, but we are entering a new year, with new hope for normalcy. It’s starting off with strict rules for wiping the slate clean – at least that’s how I like to think of it. Today our story is not in a book, and it’s truly for all ages. My 2 year old grandson loves this story, and I do too! It’s called Ride Through the Solar System, by Michael Stein and Bryan Smith, and performed by Michael Stein narrated by Fred Newman - and featuring a wonderful cast of musicians. I searched, but did not find the names of the wonderful musicians who made this story come to life. I’ll tell you how I came upon this great recording… Back in the late ‘80’s we were in attendance at a Bluegrass festival in the States and Ranger Doug Green heard that our son’s name is Jake, and said, he had something for Jake. Both my kids loved this story, and now Jake’s son loves it. He’s only 2, so he doesn’t yet get the story, but the he’s enthralled with the music. I had Ride Through the Solar System transferred from cassette to digital. Even Michael Stein didn’t have a digital copy. I hope he does now, because I did send it to him… It’s the story of Jake and Amanda, siblings who at bedtime are escorted through the universe by Halley’s Comet. It’s exciting, uplifting, educational, and definitely danceable. I hope you and your kids enjoy Ride Through the Solar System. There is still time left so we are going to listen to "Miss Linda" of Brightly Reads , read How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
