Wednesday November 9th, 2022 with Carolyn Harris
This week, we'll hear a talk by Roger Yates about Donald Watson (one of the founders of the Vegan Society in 1944) and vegan philosophy, followed by some songs in Spanish about animal rights.

CKCU Funding Drive link: https://cod.ckcufm.com/pledge/ Did you know that November is World Vegan Month? The word “vegan” was coined in 1944 by Dorothy Watson (a.k.a. Dorothy Morgan) and Donald Watson in the UK. That same year, Donald Watson, Elsie Shrigley, and others formed the world’s first Vegan Society. On this week’s show, we’ll be listening to a talk presented earlier this year by the vegan sociologist Roger Yates. In this presentation, Roger speaks about Donald Watson’s role in the early vegan movement, and he describes the philosophy of the Vegan Society’s founders. He also explains why veganism is a movement for peace and social justice rather than only being a diet. This talk is part of Roger’s Vegan Time Tunnel series on Sky Jack Morgan’s Vegan Of Course morning show on YouTube. The abridged version of this talk is available on Roger Yates’s YouTube Channel at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wkLTtjcY6z0.
