This week, the animal rights philosopher Gary Francione discusses the moral problems with keeping other animals as "pets" and with domestication in general.

This week, we’ll be listening to another segment from my second interview with the animal rights scholar Gary L. Francione, professor of philosophy and law at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. You can listen to the entire interview at the following link (recommended): https://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/553/50656.html. Gary Francione has been a vegan since 1982 and is well-known for having developed the Abolitionist Approach to Animal Rights. He is the author of many excellent books about animal rights theory, advocacy, and veganism. On today’s show, Gary explains why we shouldn’t bring nonhuman animals into existence to be our “pets” why domestication is unethical, and why veganism is the first step towards changing humans’ relationship with other animals for the better.
