A.F.A.R.
Wednesday October 28th, 2020 with Carolyn
On this week's show, Kriti Sachdeva explains the connections between the philosophy of yoga and the vegan ethic. CKCU's annual funding drive is currently happening!

We are currently partway through CKCU 93.1 FM's annual funding drive. If you’d like to donate to CKCU and help keep us on the airwaves, please visit ckcufm.com/pledge, and then select "A.F.A.R." from the dropdown menu. Thank you! This week's episode of Always for Animal Rights features an interview with Kriti Sachdeva. Kriti is the founder of Yogific, an organization that hosts yoga and vegan festivals in the UK and Europe and educates yogis and yoga teachers about veganism. In this interview, Kriti tells me about the following topics: * how the ancient text studied by yoga teachers, The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, requires practitioners to practice ahimsa (non-violence) and other principles that logically lead to veganism * how studying human rights led Kriti to veganism, and why she started holding vegan yoga events * why more yoga teachers aren't vegan (yet!) and how we can change that. This interview is great to share with yoga practitioners or anyone else who needs a reminder of why they should go vegan. :) After the interview, we hear the song "Ocean" by the vegan singer-songwriter Rebecca Shelley. You can watch the animated music video for this song at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeLuuedIYgk. You might also like to check out the article "Why All Yogis and Yoga Gurus Should be Vegan", which is on Yogific's website: https://yogific.org/why-all-yogis-and-yoga-gurus-should-be-vegan/.
