Arnold Schwarzenegger 1: Judgment Recall Jr.

After some brief sighs about Edward Norton's Motherless Brooklyn (2019), the Joshes tackle a subject near and dear to their hearts. It's not a tumor, or mono, but rather, the films of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In honour of Terminator: Dark Fate (2019), which neither host got around to seeing yet, it's a deep dive on the legacy of Arnie as a whole and his unique stardom. It turns out it tends to be his pairings with big directors that the Joshes remember most fondly: Paul Verhoeven's Total Recall (1990), James Cameron's True Lies (1994), and John McTiernan's Predator (1987) and Last Action Hero (1993). The on-topic tangents include how Jingle All the Way somehow works, Cameron preparing Arnold for comedy, Arnold's sneaky Keanu Reeves-like slow grasp of acting nuance, and candidates for governor. Things wrap up with a fairly good offscreen game of The Great Austrian Game. Pain and Glory (2019) and Jojo Rabbit (2019) are still in town and will be discussed somewhat next week.
