| MAY 1 – INTERNATIONAL WORKERS' DAY
May 1st or May Day is International Worker’s Day. With attacks on workers on the rise and with employers, provincial and federal governments refusing to provide workers with adequate protections during this pandemic, it is imperative that we mark May Day 2021 by mobilizing to defend and advance the rights of workers. Virtual rally and phone zap of Ontario MPPs to demand decent work for all, paid sick days, and safe working conditions. 11:00 am – 12:30 pm. Hosted by Fight for $15 & Fairness. Register to attend. Join the biggest virtual May Day rally across Canada, Saturday May 1 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. 1. Thursday April 29, 5-7 pm – “Paulo Freire's contribution to the current struggles of the social movement in the Outaouais” Presentation and discussion. Sign up here. (Available in French only). Facebook event. 2. Saturday May 1 and Sunday May 2 Solidarity Action: walk 1km and celebrate May Day with your family or friends. March to express your solidarity with all frontline workers. Take a picture of yourself and post it on social media explaining your march with the hashtags #MobilizationOutaouais and #1erMai. 3. “The working class reality of yesterday and today in the Outaouais” conference organized by Roger Blanchette.
