Sandinista! 40 years old this past December

Ii bought this album one snowy afternoon around Christmas time at Records On Wheels - Subject of many debates by diehard Clash fans - Sandinista has weathered time better than some. It' s listed in Rolling Stones top 500 (407) best albums of all time - we take a look at part of the record and other albums that were shaped in part by it.

Some echoes of Sandinista can be hear on Ellen Foley's Spirit of St. Louis , as the Clash were the backing group and Mick Jones produced the album soon after Sandinista was completed. Strummer and Jones also wrote about half os the songs on it. Mick Jones and Mick Ronson co-produced the the Ian Hunter album, and Mick Ronson would go on to produce No Stranger to Danger shortly thereafter. Listen closely and you can hear some of the bells and whistles that can be heard throughout Sandinista make their way in to No Stranger to Danger.
