The Mighty Barrence Whitfield. The Boston bruiser of the big beat. The Beast from The East. A scream that can peel the space tiles off of any rocket.

1:45 PM, March 20th, 2024
Frankie
Bit of a T Rex feel with Clone.

1:55 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Definitely.

Benoît
Why the heck isn't that called Conquering Queen?

1:57 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)

1:58 PM, March 20th, 2024

As I remember it, glam rock was pretty much obliterated by punk. Same thing with progressive rock, although it wasn't called that back then.

2:07 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Some truth in that yes. Unfortunately prog rock still lives & thrives though. I don't get it, but I know people who take their prog rock very seriously.

2:10 PM, March 20th, 2024
Benoît
I suppose prog rock is the jazz, or perhaps the classical, of rock? < runs away fast in case of prog rockers >

2:13 PM, March 20th, 2024
whatwave dave
Due to these glam tunes knocking the inside of my noggin' out, I gotta get me a copy of All The Young Droogs. Damn you Renny, you keep finding this great music I love!

Renny G (host)
I know people like the musicians in Yes and members of E. L. & P. thought they were as good as classical musicians.

2:16 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
But don't ask me, I'm just a listener.....What do I know? I'm no expert.

2:17 PM, March 20th, 2024
IanJ
Thanks for the shout out, Renny! You know I love the Scottish bands!

2:20 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Hee! Hee! Ditto Ian, ditto!

2:22 PM, March 20th, 2024
Benoît
As good as classical musicians: a very few r' n' rollers are, IMO. Classical players practice a metric ton, though.

2:22 PM, March 20th, 2024
Frankie
More than a listener my friend, also the creator/programmer of this fine show.

2:26 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Why did these musicians make the comparisosn in the first place, rock versus classical. It's apples and oranges. No, the problem I have with prog rock, is to put it bluntly, "too much thinkin', and not enough dinkin'". Rock & roll doesn't appeal to me as an intellectual pursuit. I don't want to analyze the crap out of the music. It either makes me want to dance or it doesn't. Prog rock is a definite in the latter category. Too many tempo changes for a dumb ass like me.

Benoît
Why? Because "classical musicians don't respect rock musicians", would be the reason. Using Yes as an example, they were making not dancing music, but "listening to long-form music" pieces -- for people who were playing one side, then the other, and maybe doing it again through a haze of smoke, as might have been done. Nobody danced to Yes, but lots of people liked the stuff. Long and a little complex. I'd simply add a thought: as with "musics", there's also "rocks" -- many, many kinds.

Fuzzy wuzzy was a guitar.. Greetings to all. Been on a dusty road all day but back to base.

2:36 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
I agree. It's just not my cup of tea. I don't like songs that last the side of an album. I just bristle when people call it rock.

2:38 PM, March 20th, 2024
Renny G (host)
Hey Neil.
