Hello First Crush listeners! Quite the mix today! You know when the season changes and you can't settle on what to listen to? Same. Hopefully you dig my indecisiveness! As I mentioned on today's show, one of Ottawa’s most beloved venues, Cinqhole, has announced that it will be closing at the end of September. Like many live music venues, the reality for Cinqhole is that it won’t be able to safely open anytime soon, and it therefore won’t be able to outlast the COVID-19 pandemic. The operators have been put in a difficult financial position since closing, with no income to recoup the inspenses incurred from overheads and renovation costs. They’ve opened a Farewell Fundraiser online, and are offering some exclusive march for donors. Cinqhole was undoubtedly one of the most inclusive and collaborative non-profit creative spaces in Ottawa, and it will be missed dearly! I had the pleasure of organizing several shows there, and have enormous gratitude for the folks behind its doors. Know that any donation goes a long way, and will hopefully help the Cinqhole fam reimagine their vision in the future when it's safe to do so!
