A jam-packed episode with at least four adaptations, a discussion of white-washing, and remaking in general. Mike talks about The Void (2016) a successful throwback to the unsettling cult-horror film and Josh gets his 5-year old on with Saban's Power Rangers (2017) with it's superhero Degrassi antics. Both hosts enjoyed the new film by Zacharias Kunuk called Maliglutit (2016), an Inuit tale inspired by The Searchers (1956) it shows up many American remakes in the cultural adaptation department. It is recommend you check it out at The Bytowne.
Most of the action is talking about the new film Ghost in the Shell (2017) and how it isn't a strong film nor is it a good adaptation of the anime classic Ghost in the Shell (1995). Unlike, The Guyver (1991) which isn't true to the source material, but it's a super fun movie nonetheless.
If you've got an itch for David Lynch check out The Mayfair on Saturday April 8th for a screening of David Lynch: The Art Life (2016) and Eraserhead (1977)!
