LOVE: The Beginning, The Middle and The End? (Reunited) (Part 2)
A Love Story.... continuing where we left off from the January 15th show that went longer than anticipated.
(you can hear Part 1 of this 2 part series here: http://cod.ckcufm.com/programs/483/30571.html )
As we continue from last time, we finished off in the midst of music reflecting on the phase of a relationship when things begin to change. Hard times come and tribulations seem to overshadow the good times that at one time, had you both smiling and laughing, grinning from ear-to-ear and basking in that sweet feeling of love. But now.. day to day life begins to take its toll and you start to take each other for granted.. maybe... and begin to lose sight of why the love was so strong and how you kept it strong and growing. Some look for "the front door" as Large Professor would say.. or even Gregory Isaacs who ponders "the front door" too. Some walk away like Bitty McLeans "Walk Away From Love" and some... well... we will see what you decide tonight. The conclusion of the show whether this couple reunites or bids farewell to one another is all up to you.
Anyway, as I was saying, Phase one tonight is a continuation from the January 15th show and continues with this breakdown. These songs reflect the frustration and despair felt when the realization or feeling is that love... is fading. Featuring songs from Atlantic Starr, Simply Red and James Ingram with "Just Once".
Next is the heartbreak. When all is done and you are on your own again.... pondering your rights and wrongs... the ups and downs and replaying all that happened or did not happen. Including all of the emotions and feelings that come... emptiness, sadness and despair all feelings featured in the music in this phase of the love story with songs from Michael Jackson, Klymaxx, Chuckii Booker.... these are songs with real feeling. There is no way these songs could have been written and performed the way they were without something we have all gone through.... Heartbreak!
Now the choice is yours!!! Would you like this story to end in these folks being reunited or is the vote to let the relationship pass on? Its up to you. Truly interactive this morning, so let me know on the Interactive Menu.. what music you wish me to play. Music celebrating being reunited with that special someone who slipped away. Or, moving on and letting it "Burn" as Usher has spoken of in his song. Up to you this morning. So let your voice be heard.
Drum Roll Please.. and your decision is.........
To bring this couple back together. The final tally being 32% for saying goodbye and 68% for getting back together. So there you have it... Reunited!!!
We will explore your choice to get back together musically that is, with the inner look to oneself and to the relationship and finding out what went wrong.. and how to salvage something together. Starting with Jeffrey Osborne and LTD and their classic, "Where Did We Go Wrong". Here the music takes you back to the feelings of deep love.... that compromise... and the reaching out to one another and finally the reconnection.
Reunited!!!!! Back in each others arms again... as directed by you.
Thank you for your calls, email messages and messages on the Interactive Menu expressing the direction you wanted us to go tonight. I hope you enjoyed the show, well both shows... Part 1 and Part 2 of this Love Story series.
Lots of fun bringing After Hours to you but especially these 2 shows. As one caller noted... she wondered if the outcome would be different if this show had taken place in the warmer summer months. I guess we will never know.

For you After Hours fans, I am sad to announce that the After Hours show will be concluding for good in March. Unfortunately, this is what happens when the phones don't ring enough during the annual funding drives. So, like the election in the US... the people have spoken and have made their choice... by way of the vote or the excercising of the right not to. Either way, your vote has been heard and After Hours will pass on into the history of shows that have graced the airwaves on CKCU 93.1FM. I will announce the date of the official last show soon. You can always let your voice be heard now by calling CKCU: (613)520-3533 or by emailing the Program Director at: programs@ckcufm.com
Otherwise, unlike your direction during the show tonight to continue... AH will say farewell.
Life is certainly like a box of chocolates... "You never know what your gonna get". Winning 6 Oscars... this movie epitomizes the to and fro of a relationship. This picture capturing a moment of joy at being reunited. What I thought a fitting pic for the show theme and your choice tonight. A classic movie in my opinion... one that if you have seen it doesnt hurt to see again and if you havent.. shame on you!! haha ;-) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0109830/
CKCU... where the programming is directed by U!
