LOVE: The Beginning, The Middle and... (Part1)

Thank you for tuning into After Hours on this chilly Sunday morning in January. Glad to have you along as we welcome in this beautiful Sunday. This morning we present a special treat for you, in that this show will trace the path of a relationship from beginning to end... through music. As you know, music covers all aspects of love and as Lou Rawls rightfully sings... "You know there's a song for every thought, and every occasion. There's a song for resistance and there's a song for persuasion. There's a song for pain and pleasure, stormy and sunshiny weather". So tonight, we traverse the ups and downs of love following this story-line.. one that we all have experienced at some time or another in our lives...from the joyous beginning to the tragedy of the end. All of the music this morning follows the "rough" order of a love story. After Hours starts now on CKCU 93.1FM!!! In the beginning there's the crush... the secret longing for the attention of "The 1" and all the associated feelings... butterflies in your tummy with the hope that they feel the same way. We start out tonight with music commemorating this phase of a love story with Troop and a truly appropriate way to start off this show with, "All I Do Is Think Of You", here on 93.1FM Phase 2: The all-consuming joy of being in love with that special someone and that love being reciprocated. When the last thing you think of is him or her and the first thing when you rise in the morning is them. This is phase 2 for tonight... and begins with a tune from back in 1990 from Tony Terry. A song entitled, "With You". Somewhere in here comes the very.. well lets just say passionate phase (In the words of the Late Great Bernie Mac; "We grown.. we grown... we family.. so we can talk" right?!?!? The intensity of the physical and emotional connection... so strong that the rest of the world seems to faaaade away. The songs in this phase honour these strong feelings of love, love-making, passion and affection and include classics that "fit" this phase such as "Between The Sheets" by The Isley Brothers, "Love You Down" by Ready For The World and other great tunes that represent "the heat" if you will.. done with songs that you may not have heard in awhile. Well... once you get here hopefully things continue to work out through the rough patches and the good.. but if things take a turn for the worse... then you might be feeling this next set of music... representing when the breakdown begins. The point where you can feel distance growing, communication unflowin'... and you know things are.. as The Roots would say.. "fallin apart". And the relationship begins to fade... even if love.. all the while, stands firm. This phase we start out with Luther Vandross and "If Only For One Night".. followed immediately with a Shirley Murdoch classic.... "As We Lay". (I think we are going to run out of time tonight and have to make this part 1 of a 2 part series) And so said... so done. Our time tonight is up! :-( So part 2 of this show will take place in 2 weeks time. I hope you will join me then for another late night adventure through vintage, classic music on 93.1 We will pick up where we left off on the downturn of a love story next time.. on After Hours which will air on January 29th, 2017 starting at 12:01am. I hope you enjoyed this show and i hope you will join me then for the continuation and conclusion of A Love Story here on CKCU 93.1FM. Good morning O'shea. I like your theme. I'm interested in how the discussion progresses. I personally love the beginning. Everything is always exciting, interesting and new. The BIG question tends to be - - How long will it (the feelings) last?

12:13 AM, January 15th, 2017
Hmm!
Interesting theme!! The creative mind of the one and only O'Shea!!

You are the D. Jay in our life
You have sooo many talents; 'Storyteller', 'Singer', 'Poet', Director, Producer. You are just killing us. I can already see you directing a movie with John Singleton, or Spike Lee. (I might have to contact them, regarding you)

??
So where would Bitty McLean's song - "In and out of Love" fall? In the middle?

1:14 AM, January 15th, 2017
O'shea Adagio (host)
I think Bittys song "In And Out Of Love" would be at the end... when love might be on the outs but... but ya could fall back in again. Where would you put it?

1:16 AM, January 15th, 2017
In and out of love
In a long-term relationship, I would say after the first year, when you have little 'fights' every now and then!:-)

ya.. I can see that for sure. That is a GREAT song no matter where it fits in. Nah true?

?
So Mr. O'Shea, what phase do you like? Beginning, middle or ending?

1:38 AM, January 15th, 2017
O'shea Adagio (host)
I would say the... well that's a hard one to answer. I would say the beginning... but there is also something about the middle where there is some stability etc. So I would say a tie between those 2 phases for different reasons. And you?
