Kim and Shelley welcome Elizabeth Waite, member of the Board of Directors of Ancoura, Ottawa Supportive Housing Network.
Ancoura is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based organization and a registered charity in Ottawa. Ancoura’s mission is to provide a nurturing and fulfilling environment for adults living with a mental illness, through stable, affordable housing and a supportive community.
Ancoura residents live in three-bedroom townhouses. They are supported by a paid professional counselor or social worker who offers problem-solving assistance and meets with them on a weekly basis. Each home has a team of visiting volunteers that provides a “circle of friends” for the residents. Residents and volunteers often go out for social activities and community events together and develop long-term and rich relationships.
