Cry is both very 80s AND an oobject lesson in how to make a great, unique song.

Not personal, Doug. It actually irks me a tiny bit, that inevitable goal-setting, and thus sort of competition between show hosts. I don't agree with donating a bit to each of maybe 6-8 shows I listen to. And I also feel for all you hosts who, inevitably -- you're human! -- want to attain them goals... Frankly, I give to CKCU, full stop.

Hi Neil. I lucked out to look in the paper, some late August hot night, and Albert Collins was playing The Penguin on Elgin St. Went. Doors, or even frontage, were wide open. I stood inside there and grooved. Some fine playin' there!... At some point, doing what he liked to do, he walked around in with his cordless 'Caster, and we -- he -- talked a little. Mentioning, to my smiling face, that he'd never learned many chords, but that he knew how to bend the strings!... An excellent night. Never again... Not to put a sour note on this, 'cause it showed me my good luck, but the following Spring I learned he was gone.

Hello everybody good afternoon. How’s everybody doing? Respect everybody in here and out there listening, especially to the hosts of the most.

Important thing B, is you got to see the master!! Elgin Street was a blast back then; very old school vibes in all the clubs and bars. That is where Mark Monahan started out way before he started Bluesfest. The Roxy was a knockout club !! Blew the socks off my club around the same time jperiod. He also owned Eddy Main Mystery shows back then too.

I've been told that Paul Symes (padrone of the old Black Sheep Inn) booked bands for The Penguin, before the Sheep.

Last week, I got to see and hear Secret Chiefs 3 (the current incarnation of). The principal among equals, on the main guitar, sometimes reminded me of Zappa and the Mothers with his playing. But then the next tune might be surf. Great variety and virtuosity. At Festival Fantôme in Quyon, continuing tonight, tomorrow and saturday!

Got you done first week of Funding Drive, Doug...not "first show"....I think my brain isn't thawed out yet. But that is now a "wrap" for my 2025 hobby farm project. Very time consuming. I get to relax in winter.

wiki: "Secret Chiefs 3 (or SC3) is an American experimental rock group led by guitarist/composer Trey Spruance (of Mr. Bungle and formerly, Faith No More). Their studio recordings and tours have featured different lineups, as the group performs a wide range of musical styles, mostly instrumental, including surf rock, Persian, neo-Pythagorean, Indian, death metal, film music, and electronic music. Paul Symes did indeed book acts for The Penguin. He also booked acts for one of the Bluesfest stages for at least 3 years in a row; might have been a bit longer. I never missed a day at Bluesfest for 15 years.
